Ash Wednesday is a day of fast and abstinence of meat.
Catholics aged 18 to 59 who are in good health are obligated to fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday.
Catholics aged 14 years and older are obligated to abstain from feat on Ash Wednesday, Good Friday, and all Fridays of Lent.
Fasting consists of eating only one meal, with the possibility of two snacks that, combined, do not add up to a single meal. These snacks are to be taken only if needed for one’s health.
